Pasar Klewer is the brainchild of Dwiki Dharmawan, an accomplished pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, performer, and peace activist who is dubbed as one of Indonesia’s most prominent musicians. In the album aptly titled Pasar Klewer (2016), Dwiki collaborated with talented international musicians Gilad Atzmon (Clarinet/Sax), Yaron Stavi (Up right Bass), Asaf Sirkis (Drum), Nicolas Meier (Guitar), and Boris Savoldelli (Vocal). Across 11 compositions, Pasar Klewer manages to incorporate wildly diverse styles of music, all of it filled with great improvising that blends the Gamelan tonal systems and traditional Indonesian melodies with the Western diatonic system.
